SACNAS Life Member Dr. Erika Camacho has been selected to receive an award by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education

SACNAS Life Member and current member on the Board of Directors, Dr. Erika Camacho has been selected to receive the Outstanding Latino/a Faculty in Higher Education: Research/Teaching in Higher Education (Research Institutions) Award by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE).

The AAHHE awards program was created to celebrate and honor the tremendous contributions of individuals who have improved the conditions of Latinos pursuing a college degree or career in higher education. The awards are based on open nominations and the winners are selected by a subcommittee of the AAHHE Board of Directors.

Dr. Erika Camacho has demonstrated excellence in research and teaching and has been recognized by her contemporaries as both a scholar and leader, including Dr. Loui Olivas, President of AAHHE, who states “She has a strong record for pushing boundaries and initiatives that impact educational outcomes.”

Of the award, Camacho said, “I am honored to be recognized by an organization whose mission is to promote the causes that are so dear to me.”
