SACNAS Distinguished Awards Nominations

SACNAS Distinguished Awards Nominations

SACNAS is proud to recognize members of our community for their dedication to science, education, and mentoring through our distinguished awards program. We offer two awards:
  • SACNAS Distinguished Scientist
  • SACNAS Distinguished Mentor
Both awards exemplify SACNISTAs who have reached the top of their field and continue to serve as role models for the next generation of minority scientists.

Who can be nominated?

Individuals are encouraged to nominate their mentors, colleagues or themselves for the SACNAS Distinguished Awards. All nominees must have a demonstrated record of encouraging minority students to pursue advanced science degrees, in addition to the eligibility requirements for the specific award.

Deadline: ~More Info Coming Soon~

Selection Process

Nomination packets (see below) are evaluated by a panel of long-time SACNAS members, themselves seasoned scientists and educators. The evaluation rubric includes mentoring experience, outreach to URM students and professionals, and quality of application materials. SACNAS membership and involvement is not required, but it may be considered by the panel.
