SACNAS Hires Sara Clarenbach as Director of Communications
SACNAS is pleased to announce the hiring of Sara Clarenbach, JD as Director of Communications. Ms. Clarenbach brings a breadth of experience to SACNAS, and a deep commitment to advancing Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in science. Sara Clarenbach - Director of CommunicationsSara earned her BA in Latin American Studies and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin and her law degree from UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. She practiced law for 35 years, followed by three years as director of advocacy, community engagement, and media relations with a nonprofit healthcare organization serving migrant workers and the underserved. Sara is passionate about social justice, collaboration, equal opportunity, and eliminating barriers to access in education, employment, civic engagement, public service, and health care. Sara is fully bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish, and has studied in Mexico, Central America, and Spain. Previously an instructor at UC Santa Cruz and elsewhere, she is also the author or co-author of several publications, most recently the Legal History of Santa Cruz County.
As Director of Communications, Sara will serve as the main media contact for the organization in addition to developing and overseeing the implementation of the organization’s overall communications strategy.
