Monine Rodriguez Sutherland serves as the logistics coordinator for all SACNAS programs and organized events, and serves as the main point of contact for SACNAS headquarters in downtown Santa Cruz, CA. Ms. Rodriguez Sutherland holds a BA in Child and Family Studies from Portland State University’s School of Social Work, where she focused on social research and family systems. Prior to joining SACNAS, she worked on political campaigns for social justice in the public information sector of the Oregon State Capital and at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Having taken a non-traditional path to education, Ms. Rodriguez Sutherland understands first-hand the impact that mentoring and role models have in the lives of underserved minorities. She believes that diversity in STEM is essential to the quality of our society’s collective body of knowledge.
