Awardees to be honored at Salt Lake City three-day conference Oct. 19-21, 2017
At its national conference October 19-21, 2017, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) will recognize six chapters for outstanding achievements.

SACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM.
“Our chapter awards recognize STEM students who are emerging as leaders at SACNAS and their universities,” said SACNAS Executive Director Antonia O. Franco. “With 115 SACNAS student chapters nationwide, chapter members carry out much of the grassroots work in the movement to diversify STEM in the United States. Our chapter members are changing the face of science in communities every day.”
SACNAS chapters develop rich programming on their campuses focused on networking, professional development, scientific engagement, and community service. It is largely through the direct outreach and year-round contact individual chapters provide to students that the SACNAS mission is realized. Each year, at the SACNAS conference, SACNAS recognizes chapters that have demonstrated outstanding achievements throughout the year. The recognition also promotes the sharing of best practices across the entire network of SACNAS chapters.
The SACNAS conference motivates, inspires and engages participants to achieve their highest goals in pursuing education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. Conference programming is specifically tailored to support undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and career professionals at each transition stage of their career as they move towards positions of science leadership.
