SACNAS has been added to the Educational Testing Service (ETS) GRE® Fee Reduction Program list. Students affiliated with entities and programs on the ETS list are eligible to participate in the GRE Fee Reduction Program to help ensure that the cost of taking a GRE test is not a barrier to graduate study.
“Since 2013, nonprofit ETS has provided more than 28,000 vouchers to eligible test takers as part of our mission to advance equity in education,” said David Payne, ETS Vice President and COO of Global Education. “These newest changes make fee reduction vouchers available through more organizations that serve underrepresented groups and to international students with financial need. And now, all test takers who receive a voucher will also receive free access to our test prep products that best simulate the actual test-day experience.”
Dr. Sonia Zárate, SACNAS President says, “ While we have seen a move by graduate programs to eliminate the requirement for GRE scores based on research that shows that they are not predictive of productivity or success in graduate school, the majority of STEM PhD programs, including some at the 74 schools listed on the #GRExit list, will continue to require GRE scores in the 2019/2020 application cycle. As a way to make the requirement by graduate programs equitable, SACNAS has worked with ETS to be able to provide SACNISTAs vouchers for both GRE prep and exams. ”
Through the program, SACNAS has received 100 voucher packages for:
• GRE General Test Fee Reduction for 50% off (Total cost will be $102.50)
• GRE Subject Test Fee Reduction for 50% off (Total cost to you will be US $75)
• ScoreItNow, POWERPREP Plus 1, POWERPREP Plus 2 for 100% off
Vouchers are available on a first come, first served basis to SACNAS student members and/or students registered for 2019 SACNAS – The National Diversity in STEM Conference.
