‘The best kept secret:’ STEM conference encourages Latino, Native American students

“To be able to solve problems in the 21st century, we need diverse perspectives, especially in science…” said Chapter Member Ruben Cano about the importance of 2017 SACNAS – The National Diversity in STEM Conference.

The annual conference gives underrepresented scientists a chance to meet mentors, network with employers, present their research, and hear from renowned multidisciplinary researchers and STEM leaders.

“Our communities have been a part of the United States since the United States started,” said SACNAS President Dr. Lino Gonzalez. “If you don’t have that voice as a part of the whole discussion, I think we’re missing a lot.”
