SACNAS student programs equip student members from community college to graduate school with the tools and opportunities to impact the future of STEM.
During the SACNAS National Diversity in STEM (NDiSTEM) Conference, young researchers are empowered through student research presentations, providing them with essential skills and mentorship to thrive in their STEM pursuits. Successful applicants will have the chance to enhance their presentation abilities, receive personalized guidance and feedback on their research, and engage with a supportive network of peers, mentors, and role models at our annual NDiSTEM Conference. Most student researchers are first time presenters who will utilize their newfound knowledge from the conference to advance their academic and professional paths.
Travel scholarships provides students the opportunity to attend the annual SACNAS Conference and to network with other participants that include fellow STEM students, postdocs, professionals, elders and exhibitors. Students will have many opportunities to learn about careers, graduate school, internships, advocacy and volunteer work. Other highlights include attending plenary sessions featuring high profile speakers, access discipline specific sessions and cultural events, and many networking opportunities.
The MAS Program offers students at every academic level the opportunity to connect with professionals from diverse sectors, STEM fields, and regions across the country. SACNAS Mentors, who have walked the same path as their mentees, share their wealth of experiences and provide personalized mentoring to empower students to achieve their full potential in their academic and professional STEM careers. Research shows that underrepresented students enrolled in STEM degrees typically receive less mentorship than their well-represented/served peers, and SACNAS is focused on closing that gap.

SACNAS invests in the next generation of diverse STEM leaders. We are dedicated to building the capacity of our scientists with the necessary leadership skills to advance their careers and lead change at the highest levels.
The LPSLI prepares culturally competent leaders that will return to their institutions and lead the systemic change efforts that are needed to make their STEM environment equitable and inclusive. After LPSLI, attendees automatically join the growing network of alumni (400+) from all STEM sectors (academia, industry, government, non-profit) that offers a unique opportunity for community and collaboration needed to make the environment equitable and inclusive.
The postdoc leadership institute gives participants at a critical juncture in their career not only training in key leadership, networking and career development skills, but also provides them with a cohort of fellow postdocs with whom they can provide mutual support as they progress in their careers towards positions of leadership.

SACNAS professional programs are designed to support professionals, including postdocs, to strengthen their competencies and reach their career goals. Programs are specifically designed with both professional development and community-building aspects in mind. These well-rounded programs equip and empower professionals to thrive in their careers and continue their STEM journey with tangible skills, a network of support, and an empowered sense of self.
This workshop provides early career scientists with the essential knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complex grant writing landscape. Participants will learn how to craft compelling proposals, identify funding opportunities, and effectively communicate their research ideas to secure the financial support needed to advance their scientific careers.
In an ongoing effort to connect postdocs and foster a sense of community, SACNAS has established an inclusive and supportive online platform through Slack. This year-round virtual space provides a welcoming environment for participants to network, exchange valuable resources, cultivate relationships, and engage in seminars tailored to enhance their current roles and career prospects.

Being a SACNAS member means gaining year-round access to programs, services, and a vast national network of over 10,000 members. SACNAS has created an environment where everyone is welcomed to bring their whole self into the STEM community, where their identities are celebrated as sources of strength, and diversity, equity, and inclusion are prioritized over conformity to the norm.
SACNAS chapters are a dynamic force driving change. The chapters, comprising of both students or professionals, serve as a vibrant community hub that fosters collaboration, mentorship, and advocacy. Through these chapters, we have cultivated a robust peer network that amplifies the voices and contributions of minority scientists at both the local and national levels, ultimately making a significant impact on the landscape of STEM fields.
